The history of roulette

The first type of roulette was invented in the 18th century in France. Scientist Blaise Pascal presented a type of roulette in the 17th century. Besides, experts believe that the roulette wheel is a merger of the English wheel games Roly-Poly, Reiner, Ace of Hearts, and E.O., and also the Italian board games Hoca and Biribi, and a French board game with the same name.
The current form of the casino game has been played since 1796 in Paris. An early description of the roulette game describes a roulette wheel in the Palais Royal in Paris in 1796. The game was described to have two betting spaces with the bank's two numbers, zero and double zero.
The roulette wheels that were used in the casinos in Paris in the late 1790s used color red for the single zero and color black for the double zero. Both numbers were changed to green in the 1800s in order to avoid confusion. In 1843 the single zero roulette wheel was introduced to compete against other casinos that offered the traditional wheel.
In a number of types of early American roulette wheels, there were numbers 1 through 28, plus a single zero, a double zero, and an American Eagle. The Eagle symbol stood for liberty and gave the casino extra edge.
